Resume format for freshers in India
The one-page resume format Indian recruiters and placement cells expect from freshers: section order, what to write in each, what to leave out, and a free template.

- Header. Name, phone, professional email, LinkedIn, GitHub or portfolio, and city.
- Education. Degree, college, year and CGPA; add 12th and 10th if your campus format asks.
- Internships. Company, role, dates and 2–3 bullets with results.
- Projects. 2–4 projects with the stack and one measurable outcome each.
- Skills. Grouped: languages, tools, frameworks. No rating bars.
- Achievements and responsibilities. Ranks, hackathons, competitions, college roles with scale.
Section order for a fresher resume
Recruiters read top-down and decide fast, so lead with your strongest proof after education. If you have a well-known internship, put Internships next. If your projects are stronger, move Projects up. Skills come after the sections that prove them.
How to write bullets when you have no experience
Every bullet should say what you did, how big it was, and what changed. 'Worked on a website' tells a recruiter nothing. 'Built a placement-cell portal in React used by 1,200 students' tells them scope, stack and impact in one line.
- Start with an action verb: built, led, cut, raised, designed, analysed.
- Add scale: users, rows of data, team size, money, time.
- End with a result: faster, cheaper, more users, a rank or a prize.
What to leave off a fresher resume
- A photo, date of birth, gender, religion, marital status and father's name (that is a biodata, not a resume).
- A full home address; the city is enough.
- A 'career objective' about what you want.
- A declaration and signature at the bottom.
- Hobbies with no proof, like 'reading' and 'music'.
Resume vs CV vs biodata in India
In India the words are used loosely. A resume is a one or two page summary for jobs. A CV is longer and used for academic and research roles. A biodata carries personal details and is used for some government forms and for marriage. For private-sector jobs and campus placements, send a resume.
